BACP Registered psychological therapist

  • HKPCA Certified Counsellor(CCon) (2018-387)

  • Registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP)  (392088)

  • Member of The Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (HKPCA)(MHKPCA) (M1419)

Ms. Alice Chan has ten years of experience in counselling and psychotherapy in private practice and school settings. Her person-centred approach is grounded in empathy, attentive listening and a genuine therapeutic relationship. She supports children, adolescents and adults facing emotional, learning and developmental challenges.

Alongside her person-centred approach, Ms. Chan draws on cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy and humanistic approaches. She tailors her methods to each person’s circumstances and needs, providing both individual and group counselling.

Ms. Chan helps clients work towards educational and personal development goals, including greater self-understanding and well-being, and planning for further education and careers. Her work aims to help them recognise their strengths, pursue fulfilling lives and build healthy relationships with others.

For Ms. Alice Chan, attentive listening is more than a counselling technique: it is a way of showing respect for the person seeking support. Her approach reflects the three qualities that Carl Rogers identified as central to a supportive therapeutic relationship: empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard.

Having studied in Hong Kong, Australia and the UK, and worked in different parts of the world, Ms. Chan brings a strong awareness of cultural differences to her practice. These experiences have helped her understand people from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. She has particular experience providing individual counselling and follow-up support for children with special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder and dyslexia. She also works with parents to develop and deliver appropriate educational support plans and training following an assessment.

Ms. Chan is a Certified Counsellor with the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association and is registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She follows the professional and ethical standards of both associations.
