At the Psychologist

Ms. Asta Wong holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Occupational Therapy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and a Master of Social Sciences in Counselling from the University of Hong Kong. Her training enables her to address both the physical and psychological aspects of rehabilitation.

During her time at Kowloon Hospital, Asta provided inpatient, outpatient and day hospital services in geriatrics, general medicine, neurology, orthopaedics and respiratory medicine. She also worked extensively in mental health services for young people, adults and older adults, providing individualised assessments and rehabilitation programmes with close follow-up.

Her work included assessing cognitive abilities, self-care skills, community living skills, mental state and home safety. She helped people rebuild their daily routines and resume meaningful roles in their lives. She also provided counselling, stress-management support, guidance on restructuring daily life and caregiver training for service users and their families, supporting their physical and emotional well-being.

Senior Businesswoman

Ms. Asta Wong previously served as a case manager for people receiving adult psychiatric care and has extensive experience in geriatrics and old age psychiatry. She regularly carried out community and home visits, particularly for older adults and people living with dementia. Her work included home safety assessments, fall prevention, recommendations for home modifications, and advice on rehabilitation equipment and daily living aids. These measures helped improve home safety and quality of life for both service users and their caregivers.

Asta also served as a representative on the Hospital Authority’s Coordinating Committee of Occupational Therapy (OTCOC). Working with occupational therapists from other hospital clusters, she contributed to discussions on treatment strategies and collaborative research in old age psychiatry and adult cognitive rehabilitation, including the exploration of new cognitive assessment and training tools.

In psychotherapy, Asta undertook cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) training over several years within Kowloon Hospital’s psychiatric department and provided CBT to service users who needed this support.
