Geriatric Depression Self-Test

Elderly depression is a common mental health issue among older adults, with approximately 7% of seniors affected. Factors such as illness, retirement, bereavement, job loss, financial difficulties and a lack of support networks can contribute to stress and emotional challenges in this age group.

The Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) is an effective tool for assessing the risk of depression in older adults. This questionnaire consists of 15 questions; please select the answer that best reflects your situation over the past week. A family member may complete it on your behalf if necessary.
