Ms. Tang has extensive clinical experience in psychological assessment and therapy for children, adolescents and adults.

After obtaining her degree in clinical psychology from the University of Hong Kong, Ms. Mavis Tang worked at a child and family development centre, providing assessment and intervention services for children, adolescents and parents in the community. In addition to assessing and supporting students with special educational needs, she was actively involved in parent education and empowerment, helping parents strengthen their relationships with their children and develop their parenting skills.
Ms. Tang subsequently spent more than a decade with the Hospital Authority. She worked across child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, old age psychiatry, anaesthesia and pain management, breast care, paediatrics and general medicine at hospitals including Castle Peak Hospital, Kwai Chung Hospital and United Christian Hospital. Her clinical experience covers depression, bipolar disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, hoarding disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, psychosis, delusional disorder, eating disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, dementia, personality disorders, prolonged grief and adjustment disorder. She has also supported people facing parenting or caregiving stress, academic or work-related stress, and relationship difficulties.

Recognising that no single therapeutic approach suits every individual or family, Ms. Tang continues to develop her skills in a range of approaches. These include cognitive behavioural therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, child-centred play therapy, narrative therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, self-compassion-based approaches and grief counselling.
In recent years, Ms. Tang has become increasingly involved in education, providing professional training and promoting mental health in the community. She has served as an Honorary Clinical Tutor for the master’s programmes in clinical psychology at the University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently a part-time lecturer in educational psychology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a supervisor in low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy. She has also been invited by social welfare organisations and schools to deliver psychology-related training and talks for students, parents and members of the public.
