Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Self-Test
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a type of emotional disorder where patients involuntarily repeat thoughts about the same issue or engage in the same behaviours to alleviate their feelings of anxiety. Patients recognise that these thoughts or actions are unnecessary, but they find it difficult to stop. These repetitive thoughts or behaviours can severely impact the patient’s normal life and work, causing significant mental distress.
The Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) is an effective assessment tool that helps identify the risk of developing Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder early and evaluates the severity of the condition. The questionnaire consists of ten questions; please choose the answer that best reflects your situation over the past week.

1. How much of your time is occupied by obsessive thoughts?
If you answer "completely none," please skip directly to question 6.
2. How much do your obsessive thoughts interfere with your work, school, social, or other important role functioning? Is there anything that you don’t do because of them?
3. How much distress do your obsessive thoughts cause you?
4. How much of an effort do you make to resist the obsessive thoughts? How often do you try to disregard or turn your attention away from these thoughts as they enter your mind?
5. How much control do you have over your obsessive thoughts? How successful are you in stopping or diverting your obsessive thinking? Can you dismiss them?
6. How much time do you spend performing compulsive behaviors? How much longer than most people does it take to complete routine activities because of your rituals? How frequently do you do rituals?
If you choose 0 points for this question, you will also choose 0 points for questions 7, 8, 9, and 10.
